Reading Online vs In Email

When you receive posts, and you're ready to read them, please click the link at the top of the post and read it on the website instead. This way you will get the latest version.

So when I started writing this, I intended it to 'go public' eventually, but down the line, after I had already produced all the content, edited it several times, maybe moved it to a custom website. However, as I talked to people about this project and the personal satisfaction it was giving me to write it, they naturally wanted to see it. And some people subscribed. I also asked a few people to subscribe so I could get feedback on tone, usefulness of information etc.

After a week of not receiving content, a few people asked me if I was sending anything. To be completely honest, I had not considered that when subscribing to something, there was an expectation to receive content in one's inbox. I thought maybe they got a notification of new posts instead. I try not to be a regular consumer of general media and I haven't kept a blog or website in ages. It just had not really occurred to me that I should send content via email. But, I was writing! So why not send it along?

It was a hasty decision, and I've realized that emails in inboxes are rather final. My writing style and available time dictate a slower process of writing, editing, nitpicking and rewriting. I often update and tweak after sending. Sometimes I find major things that need to be rewritten or restructured.

So, I considered not sending any more emails and only publishing via the web, but people seem to like emails and maybe a little pressure is good for me. So, I will continue to send them for now. Perhaps when I move to that custom website I can just send the 'New Content!' notifications instead. Until then, thanks for reading and consider reading on web instead of in your email!

(You'll get my song recommendations that way too, because the Spotify integration on web is not supported on email.)
